My Experience: Saw this in the theater with my father. We had both read the book not too long before that. Despite how terrible Dan Brown is as a writer, I enjoyed the book, more so for the art and history and French locations than the plot itself. The story is trashy and manipulative, but I enjoyed it. The movie is more of the same, following the book closely.
Hanks is fine, but he lacks the energy the main character needs. Ian McKellen is great, and is the best part. Otherwise, I was entertained enough to get through without any desire to see it again.
