My Experience: Saw this in the theater with my dad; we both loved the original musical and were interested in seeing a darker version. Polanski mostly succeeds in recreating the oppressive environment on the 19th century London slums. Ben Kingsley is awesome as Fagin. A lot of people say the movie drags; I suppose it does at times but I remember feeling moved throughout.
