Synopsis: Following a hit and run attack on Deep Space 9 by a band of rogue Jem’Hadar, Sisko and his crew are joined by the Dominion on a mission to locate the rebels, who have discovered another Iconian Gateway.
Memory Alpha Summary: A different gateway than the one Picard went through
Review: An important episode for the series as we get to know the Jem’Hadar more deeply, yet there’s something about the rhythm of the episode that loses me.
It’s incredibly talky, and while I get that the writers were trying to make the Jem’Hadar even more threatening than they already seemed, to me they just came off as caricatures. Like if you took the darkest thoughts of humans, Klingons, Romulans, Cardassian, and the Borg and just shoved them all into one species. It also doesn’t hurt that the action scenes were underwhelming. Apparently 32 seconds of fighting was cut, and they had little time to film what they had.
I do love Dax and O’Brien here.
