86. The Michael J. Fox Show

Creator: Will Bluck, Sam Laybourne
Years: 2013-2014

I didn’t really think this show would be good, but at least I thought it would be charming. And the pilot was pretty good. But it went downhill so fast it got cancelled before they aired all the episodes. Fox is pretty good as the former anchorman who had to quit his career due to Parkinsons, and there’s some pretty funny Parkinson’s jokes until they beat them into the ground repeatedly. Betsy Brandt, who plays his wife, has decent comedic timing. But the kids are so pointless. With the possible exception of the daughter, they serve no purpose other than to cause problems for the parents. And then there was this weird episode where the daughter gets super excited to take racy photos of her mom. Yeah.

Love you Michael.

  1. I saw the first couple of episodes of this. I’m not sure why I even bothered (maybe it was on after something that I actually enjoyed watching?)

    I hated both episodes.

    Good story.

  2. Everyone wanted this show to be good. If Fox was going to make a courageous return to TV, they really needed to get him better scripts.
