Bob Dylan — Tangled Up In Blue

I don’t particularly like Bob Dylan’s voice or his musical stylings. I like covers of his songs better, especially Blowin’ in the Wind. But for some reason I really like Tangled Up in Blue.
George Ducas — Lipstick Promises

Yep, you’ve never heard of this guy. Kind of a bummer as he had a good voice, but he only had one Top 20 song (this one).
The Doors — Light My Fire
Year: 1967
A lot of people hate The Doors and I get it. The lyrics for the most part are utter drug-fueled nonsense. But I really like Morrison’s voice and Manzarek’s keyboarding. I’m a sucker for needlessly long rock anthems and Light My Fire fits the bill.
Donovan — Mellow Yellow
Year: 1966
Two things I didn’t know until today. Paul McCartney plays bass guitar and sings in the background. And the song is about a vibrator.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince — Charlie Mack (The First Out The Limo)
Year: 1988
I don’t know if Charlie Mack ever had to bust any heads, but he’s not a big fan of it. His two brothers were murdered on the street. He has done a ton of charity work, organized anti-violence fundraisers and has helped hundreds of thousands of people in Philadelphia.
But I like the folk hero here. Plus references to Rocky IV and Maaco!

Dido’s real name is Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O’Malley Armstrong. Makes sense.
