The Chi-Lites — Have You Seen Her
Year: 1971
The background dancing here is amazing.
First heard this by Hammer. His is good, but this version has more soul.
The Chicks — Long Time Gone
Year: 2002
Not the only Darrell Scott that will be played this year.
I really didn’t like The Chicks when they first came out so I didn’t give them much of a chance for a while. Turns out I just felt their three weakest singles were their first three. And then when they consciously torpedoed their chart success to protest a war monger I liked them even more. And then when they shed “Dixie” from their name I liked them even more.
“Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why?”
Chicago — 25 or 6 to 4
Year: 1970
I love how so many songs from the 60s and 70s feel like they have some grand, inspirational meaning behind them. And then you find out they were just writing the song at 3:35 or 3:36.
Mark Chesnutt — I Just Wanted You To Know
Year: 1993
There I go again with crescendoing choruses.
Kenny Chesney — What I Need To Do
Year: 2000
While his tractor is pretty sexy, here’s one of Kenny’s least popular singles. Nothing special about it, but I love the melody.
Kristen Chenoweth — Popular
Year: 2003
I’ve seen Wicked twice live and only wish I had seen the original cast. Chenoweth is so amazing.
Tracy Chapman — Fast Car
Year: 1988
Ugh, this song is so freaking sad.
Harry Chapin — W.O.L.D.
Year: 1973
I could go the rest of my life without hearing the overdone “Cat’s In The Cradle,” so I’m glad I found another one I liked.
Kasey Chambers — Pony
Year: 2004
You wanted to hear an Aussie yodel, didn’t you?
