It was almost taboo to listen to these guys when I was in elementary school. Where I was, kids into metal were the slackers and the bullies. That was the impression anyway. I mean, the first line of “You Give Love A Bad Name,” is about gun violence!
Suzy Bogguss — Aces

One of the best voices in country music. Unfortunately, I don’t like most of her songs. But she had a hot steak from 1991 to 1993. It was hard to pick between this, “Drive South,” “Outbound Plane,” and “Someday Soon.”

A solid nominee for use of unnecessary parentheses! Also a solid nominee for the use of unnecessary umlauts!
While I like the skit, I’m kinda bummed this song is mostly remembered as a joke. It’s a really good song.
Blessid Union Of Souls — …And Then She Hit Me
Year: 2001
The lyrics imply that the singer is a dope and of course his girlfriend would hit him. They also make it sound like she’s abusive and it’s a miserable codependent relationship.
