For this challenge, your central character has reached some degree of fame or notoriety. This fame is now in steep decline, and everyone has figured this out but the character him/herself. They can figure this out in the course of your story, if you so desire.
You’re writing the opening of a mystery novel. This by no means should be a complete story – it should be a hook that makes us want to read the complete story. It doesn’t have to include the crime that will be solved, but if it doesn’t, then it should give some indication of where things are headed.
You are writing the story of the first time two future lovers meet. However, the story is so dark or awkward or seedy that if asked in the future, the couple is likely to tell a lie about the first time they met.
