Game: Twins vs. Braves (Game 6, World Series)
Date: October 26, 1991
Announcer: Jack Buck (TV), John Gordon (Radio)
This is perhaps the most memorable call in the history of Minnesota sports. Walk-off homers tend to get more replay over the years, and Kirby Puckett is a beloved hall-of-famer. It’s not my favorite call, though it’s close.
I think Jack’s call was just about perfect for television. His crescendo on “tomorrow night!” is great and then he lets the crowd take over. I think John’s radio call is just about perfect. He loses his voice he’s so excited but remains professional throughout the call. Rumor has it that it was the only time in his career that Gordon ever said “Touch ’em all!” twice. I don’t know if that’s true, but if there were ever a moment for him to do it, this would be the one.
I really miss John Gordon. While pop-ups to second base would often be called as “DEEP FLY BALLS TO RIGHT FIELD!” he was a joy to listen to.

Gordon’s voice was so smooth and listenable.
