Neil Diamond — September Morn’

I love about ten Neil Diamond songs equally, so thought I’d pick the least popular one.
And Sweet Caroline is terrible.
The Delfonics — Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time)

In the running for worst use of parentheses in song titles.
New Kids on the Block had a pretty good cover but it had a really awkward spoken word section.

I like two minute songs.
In 1995 I was taping songs off the radio and after this one was Sadie B. Hawkins “As I Lay Me Down.” I will not playing that one this year.
The Decemberists — The Hazards of Love 1
Year: 2009
The album is a rock opera and I’m not super crazy about it, but I enjoy the albums first track quite a bit. From the wiki:
The plot is a love story: a woman named Margaret (voiced by Stark) falls in love with a shape-shifting boreal forest dweller named William (voiced by Meloy). William’s mother, the jealous Forest Queen (voiced by Nova), and the villainous Rake (also voiced by Meloy) bring conflict to the album’s story arc.
Chris DeBurgh — Lady In Red
Year: 1986
When my daughter was in the womb I would sing this song to her. It seemed to make her upset. But now she has red hair and I’d like to think I willed that into existence.
Billy Dean — We Just Disagree
Year: 1993
A soft rock song by Dave Mason that hit #12 on the pop charts in 1977. I often prefer original rock versions that have been covered by country artists, but in this case I slightly prefer Billy Dean’s version.
The album for this song, “Fire in the Dark,” was one of the first cassette tapes I owned.
James Darren — Goodbye Cruel World
Year: 1961
Oh, man. For some reason I never made the connection that this was the same James Darren who played Vic Fontaine on Deep Space Nine.
Bobby Darin — Mack The Knife
Year: 1959
Taking an opera song and making it an enormous pop hit is pretty impressive. Love how long he’s able to hold the notes there at the end.
Miley Cyrus — Party In The U.S.A.
Year: 2009
The Bubble Yum Watermelon of pop music and I can’t ever not sing along to this.
