For this challenge, you will take a well-known movie, book, TV show or other pop culture phenomenon and distill it down to exactly fifteen words. A winning entry will be not only true to the subject matter, but clever as well.
TIME LIMIT: 15 Minutes
WORD LIMIT: 15 EXACTLY. A submission with more or fewer will be disqualified. Remember that the title of the work is not counted.
I will provide the first line of your story. The next sentence starts with either “Fortunately” or “Unfortunately.” From there on, you alternate every single sentence starting with Fortunately or Unfortunately.
Finish the story by adding fifteen or fewer more sentences. There will be no word limit, because the number of sentences effectively takes care of that.
The opening line is:
I took the whole family on a vacation to the casino.
In recent years, televisions have gained apps and browsers while washers and dryers can give you alerts by phone as to when they’re done. Your story is centered around any real item that could be augmented by an unlikely but helpful new feature.
For this challenge, your central character has reached some degree of fame or notoriety. This fame is now in steep decline, and everyone has figured this out but the character him/herself. They can figure this out in the course of your story, if you so desire.
